A Poem by Rachael
"

The title speaks for itself.

Ah love

You magnificent little b*****d

with all your stupid stupid (stupid) treachery.

At a distance the world  looks so clean cut and simple

but look closer and it’s all madness with love in between.

And who could ever tell the difference?

You’re the canvas to every silly pink pop song

with it’s blushing notes and doped up words

(Don’t even get me started on the artist)

I had a heart and a head once.

both reasonably sized and well-maintained.

then you came along

and I couldn’t tell where one began and the other ended

and everything was full of cracks that you just gushed through

despite the gesso and dry wall

that I keep trying to nail into place.

You’d think after years of dodging into alley ways

and hiding under tables

I would have seen you coming from a mile away.

but that truck just came out of nowhere

and it barreled me down on that street.

And when I awoke I couldn’t stop blushing

and every other word I said sounded so stupid

so like an idiot I walled myself up in a box.

Thinking that love would go the way of air

but my head has never beat harder

and my heart will never stop spinning

and I can’t help but think how stupid it all is

that the world could be so unbalanced

that one person could turn the whole place upside down.
