Two bodies lay together in their hotel room. The smell of the sea moved in and out of the windows mixed with the heat of the SA morning. Twenty floors up overlooking the beachfront, the hotel had an air of importance over the Cape Town shoreline. On that top floor the chambermaid let out a terrified cry as she found the couple on the bed. Their eyeballs had been removed leaving bloodied sockets where spurting crimson covered the bodies and sheets until there was nothing left inside them. This, though, was only an act of confusion. what had really happened had been the actions of the baby they had picked up. Initially the infant had taken the persona of a human child. Once the couple had returned back to their hotel and wrapped the baby in a blanket, making sure it had been fed some milk, they slept for the remaining hours of the night. The next day they were to take the newly born to the local hospital or police station, then return to the paradise of their holiday together.

Once they had closed their eyes the infant uncovered itself, climbed into their bed and thrust two fingers through each of the eyes of the couple. In doing this it began to absorb their souls gathering all their feelings up and creating thoughts and feelings to begin the first step of destroying humankind. As more souls would, in the future, be eaten, the faster the human child transformed into an adult swallowing human words and spitting them out as it's own. However, now after the first slaughter the body hid from sight, transforming back to the devil child first created. Slowly it waited to build strength for another attack and was fortunate to find the chambermaid hysterical and not seeing the attack, before she was left not seeing, feeling or knowing anything that was going to happen ever again.

Nicely done. Ties the story up brilliantly. Shame the main characters had to die, but it wouldn't be the same dark story if they had lived. I have to say it wasn't any ending I could have predicted, and I love surprises. I enjoyed the way everything was written backwards in the end poem. You guys did a wonderful job on this story and I have really enjoyed the whole thing from beginning to end. XX

It took me a quick moment to catch it was all backwards, but I liked it. I finished, understanding that the young demon child wasn't quite grown enough with only three souls to speak properly, and IF he does grow..... well, that will be a tale indeed.

In all, from beginning to end, I enjoyed the story, it's characters, flow and imagery. The scenes you described at times were very graphic and left me cringing, fearful or looking over my shoulder. Excellent.

Your characters were all built up extremely well, the main characters all being able to stand alone and interact together understandibly together. Even the characters you introduced for a chapter or two had a life of their own, fitting into your story extremely well.

All said and done, a very good story.

Well done!!!

ew so vivid, though i do think that if this is the ending that you should end the story completely; but its always good to leave the reader wanting more. well this was a very interesting and well detailed book, kept me on the edge of my seat the entire way through. i liked the backwards writing you did in the end, i didn't get it at first but then i saw that the words are just spelled backwards, very chilling warning and a good way to end this story. very well done to you both, i applaude you both on creating such a unique and creative book. thank you for introducing me into your book i enjoyed every word :D
