Life After love

Life After love

Life After Love  : By John D. Walker

Inside we still want, outside we see what is true
Your cold actions stabbed me, I am in an ice storm
I wanted comfort, escape, only wishing it was a dream
You let me know how real it was, I awoke

I stand confronting a love buried deep inside
You know, I still love you, the power you once had
A loving embrace, now hardened by the new snow
It is cold outside, where can I go, where was the warmth?

The ice makes us slip and fall, I keep trying to stand
When will it all be gone, I’m waiting for a new Spring
Let my heart embrace the coming of new growth
A new flower, I have never seen before....

Waiting for the weather to change, the past has left me
The beauty there once was, to color my life again
The beginning of a new life, with the power of a kiss
A new blossom, to fill my soul again, with a power all there own

it DOES hurt when you lose love...when you are blindsided and don't see it coming and the other person is already done/ has had a chance to get used to the idea. "Waiting for the weather to change, the past has left me " this is a wonderful way to put it, I like how you related the weather/seasons to the changes in your character's life (your life?) .

First of all, I like how you compare emotions with the seasons. Clever indeed!

Your word choice is dynamic as I am able to feel the emotion you express.

This is a nice write!

Thank you,
You are very perceptive. There is meaning in most of my writes.... but they can also mean so many other things to others as well.

So sad and so hard to accept and move on. The fall out does eventually settle all in its own time. You describe the pain well but my favourite part has to be the last 2 lines, there is hope there.

The beginning of a new life, with the power of a kiss
A new blossom, to fill my soul again, with a power all there own

Once you love, you are changed forever. One cannot back step after the emotional deed is done. It will always be with you (LOVE). In time, it is a mere shadow emotion, but never doubt its power. It changed you then, and it continues to change you now. This love that you can hardly see, exists, for if it does not, then it was never love to begin with...

The loved one who betrayed you, suffers your loss. Even if she does not know that she does, she does. Life and truth has a way of righting wrongs and punishing unjustness. I am sure you have heard the old adage: "it always comes out in the wash." And it does, always.

Great write!

In the pain there is a hope. It is never without pain that a relationship dies. Love can be very fickle. You have expressed it beautifully. Wonderful poem.
