Greed and HungerA Poem by John DevarajThere is enough for every mans need...but not enough for every mans greed!Greed and Hunger When
we consume beyond our thirst, Greed's
shadow looms, a hunger cursed. Excesses blind, our souls confined, To
what is hoarded, undefined. Yet,
in the shadows of desire, The
less is deemed the fuel for fire. In poverty, the soul does ache, For
dreams deferred, for choices' sake. A
few clasp riches to their breast, While
multitudes must strive for rest. The
haves, the have-nots' burden bear, Injustice
stark, a world unfair. But
in this world of scarcity, A
truth emerges, wise decree. To
fill our hearts, not just our plates, In sharing joy, compassion waits. A
bottle filled beyond its brink, Wastes
life's elixir in a blink. Embrace
restraint, the wisdom's key, In
half-filled bellies, spirits free. Let
empathy guide every deed, To lift the wretched, plant love's seed. In
hunger's face, let kindness reign, And
nurture dreams that know no chain. A
good life thrives in heart's content, Where empathy and love are lent. So
share the feast, extend the hand, United,
we shall firmly stand. For
in the rhythm of our hearts, A symphony of grace imparts. The
dance of giving, love's encore, A
world transformed, forevermore. John Devaraj,
