Dear Father

Hello Mr Soldier,
A dialogue between father and daughter:

Daughter:
Hello father, where are you now?
Are you at home, please let me know

Father:
I’m at the battlefront my child,
I’m firing my gun nowhere just into the wild!

Daughter:
My classmate salamun is buried live and crippled
Under the school building, hit by rockets, she buckled!

Father:

I aimed only at the enemy position’s, daughter
to cut off their electricity, roads and water,
Daughter:
But daddy, your missiles hit hospital and schools
and the children were killed in a deathpool!

Father:
I am only doing my duty,
My pretty little beauty!

Daughter:
And who gives you the order to kill?
Do you not have a free will?

Father:
Defend your land said the prime minister!
And I will obey, be it be good, bad or sinister!

Daughter:

Hey Soldier, remember the Ten commandments,

Hey soldier, thou shall not kill
Hey soldier thou shall not bear false witness against thy neighbor!

Hey soldier, you were a loving father, when I was born

Hey soldier, the demon of death has engulfed you!

Hey soldier don’t do to others what was done to you!

Father:
Yes, my blossoming flower, in your innocence there is power
An eye for an eye will make the whole world blind
Daughter:

Thank you for your understanding, Father! I love you!

 

Salamun, {means Peace in Arabic} is a Palestinian child orphaned by war.
She was adopted by an Israeli Father, who brought her up very lovingly.
