"The Ring of Infinite"A Story by Jack Buckner“The Ring of Infinite” By John Smith
1. It was what would seem like any other day. Michael Watson sat in his beloved Lay-Z Boy recliner in front of a flat plasma screen with his feet propped up on the footrest and a cold can of Bush Beer being held up by his left hand while resting on his thigh. When he first heard the loud bang, he didn’t really know what to think. Maybe it was a terrorist attack. The thought of it surely crossed him mind…and maybe to some extent, that is exactly what it was. “What the f**k?” Michael said as the vibrations of the big bang shook the house. It startled him just enough for him to quickly sit up and pour the remains of the can of beer on his crotch. “Damn it!” He shouted as he looked down and saw the damp stop in his dark colored blue jeans. Michael sat the nearly empty can on the table beside him and quickly stood up. He ran into the kitchen and grabbed the hand towel that was covered with little images of strawberries and started to wipe the beer off of him. After drying most of the beer off of him, Michael placed the hand towel back on the towel rack and walked over to the basement door that just across the kitchen from the refrigerator. He placed both hands on the door at first and slowly began place his ear on the door as well. Michael stood there for a moment in silence. He slowly lifted his head away from the door and slowly reached down for the doorknob. Michael grabbed the brass doorknob and closed his eyes just before he turned it and the door swung open.
2. Michael could see a pulsating blue light down in the otherwise dark basement. He reached over to his right and flipped the light switch up to turn it on. The florescent lights that he had installed in the basement once he decided to finish it flickered for a moment before they went off completely. “Damn it!” He said as he reached into the front pocket of his jeans and pulled out his cell phone. Michael unlocked the phone and hit the flashlight icon to turn on the light. He shined the light down the stairs and slowly began to make his way down there. Part of him knew that he probably shouldn’t go down there. But his curiosity got the best of him and he ignored the hairs standing up on his neck and continued anyway. As he reached the basement floor he turned to his right where the blue light was coming from. “What the f**k?” He said as he it on the floor of the basement. It was a perfectly formed ring at the center of the basement floor. There was smoke coming out of it and a light blue light that would shine bright, fade away, and the shine again. He shined the flashlight on his phone at it and walked over next to it. Michael knelt down and took a look inside. It was foggy and nothing could be seen past the fog and the blinding blue light coming from it. He thought about putting his hand in it for a moment and even lifted his hand to do so, but something made him stop. It was something that he heard. Something was moving in the darkness. Michael quickly stood to his feet, turned around, and shined the light in the corner behind him. There was a woman standing there. The woman had a tan as if the sun kissed her and her hair was brown and reached down just past her shoulders. She was a sexy woman. Michael could see that. She was half naked just wearing a pair of baby blue lingerie. “Who are you?” He asked her. She smiled and walked over to him. They kissed for a moment and then she pulled away to answer him. “Cynthia.” She said as she turned her back to him and walked back to the corner where she was before. “Well, where did you come from? What is this thing?” Michael asked her. She smiled at him again and played with her hair. “The ring! I came from the ring!” “What is the ring?” “It’s my home.” “You mean to tell me that you came from the ring?” Michael asked. She just smiled at him again and walked back over to him. They kissed again and she grabbed him by the hands. “Why? Why did you come here?” He asked her. “To get away. My father wanted me to stay in the ring. But I didn’t want to. That’s never what I wanted. I wanted out!” She replied. “Why? It couldn’t have been that bad.” Michael said as he pulled her hands away from him. “Yes! Yes it was! Tomorrow was supposed to be my wedding. But I didn’t love him. I could never love him. The man my daddy wanted me to marry is nothing more than a spoiled rich boy pig!” Cynthia told him. The two were silent for a moment. “Why did you come here?” He asked. “I saw your face. It was like a vision. I saw you just before the ring landed here. I knew that you were the one!” “The one to what?” “To get me out! You have to get me out.” “How?” He asked. “The only way they will ever allow me to say is if I get married!” She suggested. “Married? I can’t do that! We just met one another.” “You don’t have to actually get married like you do here on earth. Sex is a fine substitute for that!” Cynthia said. Michael was quite for a moment. Cynthia quickly turned around to look at the ring. “Quick! They are coming! Make love to me!” She shouted at him. They began to kiss and undress one another. Michael closed his eyes as she licked him all over with her forked lounge. She began to change. He heard became enlarged and turned green and her eyes turned to black. Her arms and legs turned into four long tentacles and after he entered her, her vagina filled with thorns so couldn’t exit. Michael let out a scream and opened his eyes. He screamed again as she trusted towards him and finally pulled away. His bloody penis was ripped from his body and fell to the floor. Michael fell to his knees and saw her change back to her previous form just before losing conscious. “Cynthia!” She heard a man shout as he stepped out of the ring. He was an older looking man and had a beard as if he was in ZZ Top. “Cynthia! Thanks God! Did he hurt you?” The man asked her. “No. He was very kind! But I did get what we came here for. I can feel it already! I’m pregnant daddy! You’re going to be a grandpa!” She said happily. The old man smiled and gently placed a hand on her belly. “Let’s go home honey! We have to tell your ma of the exciting news!” He said as the two of them walked back over to the ring. They jumped into it and the ring of infinity disappeared.
