“Everyone who’s ever taken a shower has had an idea. It’s the person who gets out of the shower, dries off and does something about it who makes a difference.”
A lot of people look at the physical sense when it comes to the cleansing abilities of a shower. But for me, it seems that it can often work wonders from a mental standpoint. Standing in a hot shower with the steam rising is as close to a moment of clarity as I will ever achieve. All of the impurities of my being wash off of my body in a wave of relief before they disappear down the drain. And while the effect of the think tank is temporary, we’re all perfect for that moment in the solitude.
I tend to do a lot of “writing” in the shower – though it is all inside of my head. The majority of these ideas are later scrapped as I don’t find them important enough for the consumption by the general population. What has been written on these pages are the ones that have survived – the lone sparks in the vast darkness of the mind. There is nothing to be said of those that didn’t find their way to the paper. Those that had no chance to infect the curious spirit and inspire thought.
As a writer of sorts I would like to think that something good will come of all of this. Whether it be for myself or another individual. Maybe this isn’t all in vain and these ideas will find significant value with someone else. They’ve already passed the water test by avoiding removal with all the other unnecessary dirt, but what will come of it? Anything? These words may be as successful as the singing careers of the bathroom soloists that we all know. Or may be…
