Inked In The Skin A Heart, A Name

Inked In The Skin A Heart, A Name

A Poem by John
"

I

"
Inked in the skin a heart, a name,
A memorable year:
Such confidence when we were young,
The words, the numbers clear;
Now we are old, the body shows
A precarious smear.

At least, thank God, the rutting heart
Has left the cradle bare.
The words, the gifts, the promises
Produced no spiffing heir
To seek and find a brave new world
With which they hoped to share.

Thanks. Glad you enjoyed it.
a memorable year, sometimes that is all we are left with, or can expect. much wisdom mixed in with the sadness (or should I say nostalgia) for youth and time lost

enjoyed my visit john

Thanks Ken. The mix of feelings was what I was after.
Very cool. I have often wondered about hearts with names tatted in them and what happens when that name changes or the skin ages. Nice one.
