The Teenage Years

The Teenage Years

A Poem by Jay
"

... a little self explanatory...

"

Life is like a roller coaster; something you cannot master.

No matter how much you yell you cannot go faster.

Sometimes you scream, sometimes you shout,

But the car keeps going, not letting you out.

You go up the hill, start of slow,

Then you're at the top and down you go.

First a loop, a quick up and down,

Then before you know it you see the ground.

The corkscrew's next, scary and tall,

Just hold your breath and down you fall.

The idle people get let go,

But when you ask to get out you just hear “No!”

Back to the top, another time around,

Next thing you know you're sitting next to a hound.

A few laps pass, a few memories to share,

But then it gets off and there's nothing but stares.

A few lost tears, a few frowns for good measure,

But sometimes you have to put wit before pleasure.

Still strapped in, whizzing around,

Still staring, still crying, just stopping to frown.

Something happens, a flat change of pace,

Sometimes it's nice to stop the haste.

A few moments to stop and sniff,

Then you are back to climbing the cliff.

Around and around, life is in motion,

A few times you get drunk on some potion.

Torch the memories you left at stop one,

Just know your journey has just begun.
