Magnus Opus Hermeticus

Magnus Opus Hermeticus

A Poem by John Phoenix Hutchinson.
"

The great work hidden within.

"

Magnus Opus Hermeticus

Crystal clear, the waters of life.
Shown to me by angels of grace.
I sing, to the mornings stars.
Lord, my soul cries for you.

Grounded on earth's foundations.
Focused on heavens divine light.
I enter through minds door.
 Immaterial vision awaits me.

A gift from the mercy of God.
I have been born in my mind!
Immortal, I stand before the mirror.
Deathless, till the end of time.

Now for a moment, I ascend.
Floating, through clouds of wisdom.
I bathe in a universal castile.
Cleansed of earthly immorality.

No desecration within the all above.
No violation, in the celestial hallowed halls.
Here I gaze upon hope, imagination and love.
Framed, bound together in trinity.

Far then on winged feet, I travelled,
Not held by the circle of life.
Till time and space became nothingness.
I sped towards a singular light.

Where I am afforded a brief glimpse.
A golden cup of pansophic truth.
Burning in enlightenment flame.
Blinded, I am sent back into minds eye.

I awake from the dream glad.
For in the heart of this man.
I have learned of greater mysteries.
For in searching for truth,my soul is stilled.

The eternal flame burns brightly.

Cum Luce Salutem.

You're an incredible writer. Each time I read a new poem of yours, I am amazed at what your mind does with words. And it always seems effortless. Where to from here? The obvious answer seems down but I don't doubt that you will find a way to top this and again leave me in awe.

"For in searching for truth,my soul is stilled."

Seriously! What planet are you from!!!

I`m glad I looked at this. Like the well constructed verses, the fine use of language and the very serious, impressive theme, the use of Latin. You did very well here.

This poem evokes High Church hymns for me.
A point of confusion for me was the line, "I bathe in a universal castile.
Cleansed of earthly immorality" I wasn't sure what element of Castile, Spain you were trying to draw parallels to here.
What I like: I think your poetry reflects the wide range of influences you draw from, some unconventional but it works for you. I like your use of fresh language, you really squeeze the thesaurus dry which many writers don't do.
What I don't like: The fresh language can become a distraction, I had to Google pansophic and I'm glad I did because I instinctively thought it had something to do with sophistry which would have dramaticaly changed the meaning of that line. This makes the poem not as accessible to a broad readership. Granted that's ok if you don't plan on publishing this for commercial profit and I guess it's not a bad thing to make your reader expand their vocabulary.

Excellent write! Magical! Multitudes of themes bundled in this treasure. It talks about illumination, enlightenment and reaching absolution - a true form of divinity. This is one of your best! Why didn't I read it earlier? Going to my favorites!

Yes this one is quite a journey :)
Your poem touches on some primary beliefs of the major religions of the world, such as the teaching of an immortal soul. I'm not sure what the principle message is or what kind of statement you're trying to make, other than an ethereal feel. Of course, a dream can be anything.
