For it all began with grain and clay In ancient lands so far away And in turquoise mines for the laborers day Where to whom a lovely goddess the men would pray That now I can write this for you
Thanks to those earthen veins of minerals blue And the flowing rivers and oceans too Over which sailed ships rowed by the crew To carry such jewels to you
Where the mouth and the sound of its word was your name For when I was kissed by those lips I was never the same My tongue licks like fingertips of shadows of flames And if once I was a desert, you’ve given me rain
I grew like a tree whose leaves spread like a fan Whose lines and grooves resembles that of a hand And I draw long and curling lines on your skin Paying no mind to an end once we begin
And it all began with grain and clay In ancient lands so far away And in turquoise mines for the laborers day Where to whom a lovely goddess the men would pray That now I can write this for you
Excellent expression. It really is a tribute.
You use end rhyme very well.
I enjoyed the read, more so because it clearly brings out how she moved you and made you into something better.
Nicely penned.

and so with all of that, way before our times, there developed language and writing on those leafs known as papyrus and I'm thanking those ancient times for giving me the tools to tell the woman I love, that I love her, without ever saying it directly.
There's a lot to it and I didn't know how much of it you knew to be there other than the rhyme but I like finding things out about a poem and I thought maybe you would find it interesting and maybe even research some into it! This poem came about with a lot of research.
Anyways, I'm glad you enjoyed it and I'm sorry if I got a little excited explaining myself. Keep writing and have a good day!

I do know about the ancient Egyptian scriptures, in fact I was very much taken by it while I was at school and did so much extra research in its regard.
Great work poet! Sometimes poetry writing is underestimated by the audience, they sometimes feel that only stories require background research.
Thanks for sharing.
