pretention

pretention

A Poem by John Cuttito

The center does not hold

Spinning wild

Mild grinning

Thinning child

To come from a hard place

Distillation of concentration

Blindly chiding

To come from a dry place

The taste of desert upon

The lips fingerprints of sand

Her hands upon his hips

Glass emptied to the pavement

And cracked in multiplicities

Reflections

A gray film upon the moon

Shadows ex’d etched

Across a wounded place

A dark space   trace of a

Face with tears gone dry

Replace. Her lips with something

More reminiscent of nothing

Anxiety of        separation of

Self

To come from a nowhere place

All at once

And be left behind
