To build a fire

To build a fire

A Poem by John Anderson

A pocket full of excuses, and not one reason.
My words are out of season.
A madman laughing at his pain.
A crippled soul without a cane.
My body cold and weak, the darkness grows higher.
Forever doomed,a man that can't build a fire.
Love can be a dangerous seed, not everyone is in need.
I feel down,let me bleed,let me bleed.

What good is water to a man that has no thirst?
It is like Satan giving an invitation to a man already cursed.
I have read the stories verse to verse.
Nothings changed,Gods wrath will be dispersed.
Hard hands make for a heavy heart.
Blessed is the soul that in the arms of a loved one gets to depart.
For the sadness that falls a mothers tears.
Is the happiness that feeds are fears.
The change of a name,
does not puzzle the memory of the same.
May the birth of a child witness the death of your sins
For salvation is found in the eyes that depend.
My dear love look to the heavens, just past me.
Calm the ocean shall be,and thy spirit free.
I fell down,let me bleed,let me bleed.
My dear love i wish not to impose,
please let my blood grow you a rose.

Dramatic and strangely, darkly romantic. "..feeds are fears" hmm our? "Let my blood grow you a rose" wow ... Favorite line. Careful Romeo!

John..it is the strongest poem from your side and it is a fine example of words accentuated by true emotions. I found it very moving.

"What good is water to a man that has no thirst?
It is like Satan giving an invitation to a man already cursed."

An absolutely amazing poem with beautiful imagery and that line was one of my favorites! Literally, my only critique would be to keep an eye on the spacing between your commas and the word that follows after them. A brilliant poem and a powerful read!

very interesting piece, spiritualistic and humanistic at the same time as it can be read with either viewpoint and still contain a strong message.

The imagery, the structure and flow all worked so well. This was a well thought out piece.
