Goodbye America

Goodbye America

A Poem by John Anderson

Know this, we are everywhere and encompass everybody
Wherever there is a parent that has lost a child
Wherever there is a child who has lost a parent
Wherever there is a person that to this day

mourns the loss of their lover
We are Socialist, Capitalist, Anarchist, Moderates,

Communist and Nihilistic
We are Kantian, Utilitarian, Stoic, Hedonistic,

Aristotelians, and Existentialist
We are Atheist, Christian, Hindu, Jewish, Muslim,

Jane, Mormon, and Agnostic
We have been around since the dawn of society

and will be there until your atomic holocaust comes
Our beliefs are simple, if we are to survive

then we must act accordingly to our own ethics and morals
At the top of these is the simple idea that

we don’t want your power hungry,

money grabbing, imperialistic ways.
We will not take part in your slaughter
This time, History is on our side, but we

will not bury you, we will simply

only have to let you bury yourselves.

oh, very amusing piece, the use of all those concept/names of those various groups, of who we are -divided as a community... it is sad, through all those beliefs, traditions & culture that we have, it somehow put a stir of mixture of indifference in us... sad, very expressive piece mr. John...

seems to headed down that road, to much involvement in other countries affairs, if we could all look after our own and live in peace what a wonderful world that would be, a very interesting and insightful write John

Enjoyed reading this thought provoking write. The imagery and concepts flow quite well. This reminds me of Hemingway's "For Whom The Bell Tolls." Well done!

Also, I would not post a photo of your flag burning and tell your country goodbye. Geez. :(

Hmm thought provoking, but free enterprise and capitalism have perhaps given you many advances in society you enjoy on a daily basis. Competition spurs us onward in creativity and innovation while lowering the cost for the consumers making it affordable. This system is the ideal and needs to be cherished, guarded, and protected, and if possible, expanded.

Intense metaphor within deep and powerful imagery, this is an excellent piece.

A poem that cleverly explores contradictions and( my reading) supports an anti-capital position based on
basic humanitarian values beyond dogma, so a thinker of a poem, to be read BTL, fine job.
