A Chapter by J.C. Rabanes

Chapter VII

“It was moon dark as I saw a figure of a man in the coast side sat in a big rock beside a big empty rock.”
“I’m sorry for what I had said.” Prince Euphatos II uttered.

The soft hearted Machus felt really sorry for his elder brother when he heard his brother speak such a downfall message.

“No, I should be the one saying that line.” He replied.

They both look with one another as emotional as what their heart is trying to express. Machus imagined everything he and his brother’s past being an outmost enemies. Then it clearly states in his mind the words he said to his brother is somewhat insulting for a younger brother to be spoken out to his older brother.

“I am not deserving to be a Prince of our kingdom, for I am weakling.”  Prince Euphatos III uttered as he wept with tears.

“No, you ain’t a weak one.” He responded.

Prince Machus feels the sorrow behind the words of his brother who sometimes he regarded as strong in their later times. The air suddenly became humid and their body is wobbling in cold but the two ignored it as they talk man to man.

“To be honest, despite of your attitude of being so rude I admired your tenacity as a man who never backs down in a challenge.” He added.

The so down prince looked to his younger brother and starts to shed tears while saying sorry his front. Machus then rebuked him and said.

“You are not weak!” he said.

“Father and I saw that, you are not a coward. You already proved it.” He added.

“Is that so, why I undergone this trouble of defeat!” Prince Euphatos III said emotionally.

“Even Father will say this to you ‘no matter how many times you are defeated, the fact that you always stand proud and ready to take the challenge again, you are strong as a lion’.”

A moment later, Prince Machus stands on his feet calling his brother Euphatos III to go back to the village. And both of them headed back to the village with purity in their heart and Prince Euphatos III is slowly recovering his spirit from despair over what happened to him in the land of Imus.

As they are coming, an old man shows up on their way and both of them feel a little scared as the man is coming to them at constant speed. As it gets nearer and nearer they slowly pictured out that the man is the one Prince Machus seen in the hill telling him where his brother is and he was extremely wondered about it.

“Hey!” Machus called the old man.

“You are the old man I had met earlier right?” he ask the old man.

The man in white robe didn’t respond to the question instead it only continues to walk over passing them both. As the mysterious man passed them, Prince Euphatos III felt insulted but that feeling is quickly vanished when they heard the man spoke something to them.

“You are destined to die, a man are always destined to taste death.” The old man whispers to the king.

The prince look directly to the man but it vanished instantly in the thin air leaving no sign of existence.

“Who was that?!” ask by prince Euphatos III to his brother in total shock.

Prince Machus was fallen in his unconscious and was scared for he met the same mysterious man lately and vanished just like how he [the man] vanished from their eyes.

When they arrive in the village, they ask Piyo about it and they got no conclusive answer to their questions. The two ended up forgetting what happened that night instead they drink and drink until they are drunk and sleep from a joyous festive.
