InfluenceA Poem by Overwhelming ConfabulationJust a poem about how I'm finding myself and the battles I've faced getting to who I am now.My eyes Forever wide And exposed To the bright lights Blinding my third eye's sight Adjusting me slightly Slanting my gaze My mind portrays Color schemes gray Though somewhere deep My Hearts screams "NAY!" "No" "Stay clever" When I write from the Heart Words come together And sometimes I've wished I never was. Were... Ever. . . Am I something I'm not Swaying to the motions of influence Believing I'm above all Staying cool and different But really that's just ignorant Blind minds can see Our true selves as infants Our paths ahead with possibilities as infinite Your understanding of class, race and position Pushes you to fit in it So I stepped out Took a look around And said F**k that s**t! I create my reality You telling me how to breathe?! Please, that's absolute blasphemy Society's grip can never push or pull on me © 2011 Overwhelming ConfabulationAuthor's Note
