What of the Desert Night

What of the Desert Night

What of the Desert Night

What of the desert night?

The lone coyote’s torment --or his bliss--

But sound until I make it more.

Trees, just trees.

The wind perhaps.

Impossible to tell.

Ah, how beautifully they lie,

Shaking in the night.

So that we are safe--

Yes--

From the silence of the world.

Intolerable silence of the world.

And so behold this empty palm,

This imaginary fruit,

And eat.

I see you've experienced the same rejection of those long hyphen thingies haha. I forget what they're called. I've had to edit things because of it..

When I spent the night in my own desert, I decided I would rather live in a tormenting depth, rather than live blissfully ignorant. But every now and then I catch a rogue thought desiring a blind way of life. As writers especially, sometimes we see more than we'd like. A well thought out poem. Very clever :)
