Of Lies and History

Of Lies and History

A Poem by Johannes Fahrion

Of Lies and History

The promises of men, broken,

alight with songs of truths returned,

retold to children and nations of children,

resting uneasy, beneath gray books, weighted.

Our history, memories faded and forgotten,

while gray upon granite, etched,

the beginnings and endings, alone,

fleeting lives in gray books permanence.

So, the valiant child believes,

promises of men, unbroken,

serving the righteous, bleeding,

for father, whose congress steals.

As boys and girls together align,

in symmetry plucked womb from womb,

whose mothers and fathers prey,

on promises unborn and blood aborted.
