Beggar's Burden

Beggar's Burden

A Poem by Johannes Fahrion

Beggar’s Burden

So elusive the dream,

mottled by red sentiment,

rising in temperance, low,

by night, defying sun’s rising.

Then balances bought,

by beggar’s burden sworn,

to struggle against capital blood,

on corrosive tongues.
