Anesthesia

Anesthesia

A Poem by Johannah
"

What if the moth turns into a firefly? Will it still be drawn to the light?

"

She is a pain killer

This is a rather odd thing to describe oneself

Yet here she is succumbing to the truth

People in pain come to her for a dose of anesthesia

A sudden escape from reality

Her emphatic nature draws them near

Like a  moth to a flame

But the flame is the one destroyed.

The moth takes away all the light

and once it changed into a firefly,

it will fly away leaving darkness behind.

Crazy as it may seem,

she finds purpose in those heartaches.

Maybe that is why the light is there after all.

That is the meaning of her existence,

the sole reason of her being,

the key to her happiness.

The light is still waiting patiently

for a firefly to come along

someone who doesn't need her

yet will bask in the warmth of her beauty.
