VenomA Poem by Johanna Rae ReyerIn which a promise is exchanged, and inadvertently broken.I am blood, you are venom. You can ease my pain, but refuse.
I know what you are. You've promised to protect me, but you're struggling to maintain.
Your eyes are filled with a pain. I am hurting you, but you don't leave.
I've begged you to leave. But you've silenced my pleas, you can't leave me.
You say you can resist the pain. But the thirst you carry with you is strong, stronger than you'll ever care to admit.
Where does your will power stop? When does the pain triumph over you, and I turn from the love of your life, to the prey which you've strived to kill?
No matter what, you just won't leave. No matter how convincing my argument is, I always wake up to find you curled up beside me, keeping watch.
Time is all you need you say. But you've had all the time in the world, and I don't.
One of these days, you'll snap. You'll get too hungry, and I'll get too close.
I can only anticipate that day. When I get to feel the venom, and share the pain. © 2013 Johanna Rae Reyer |
