I used to love the night

I used to love the night

A Poem by Johanna
"

Those long nights we all experience once in a while..

"

I used to love the night
The silence it brought
Now that silence has been filled by my thoughts
Thoughts of happiness, thoughts of dread
So I can´t fade into dreams in my own bed

I used to love the night
The dark glimmering sky
Now I envy the people who it passes by
Resting their eyes in a peace so deep
If only my mind would allow me to sleep

I used to love the night
I would hold up dawn
Now I lay awake when the curtains are drawn
Trying to forget the worries that burdens the day
Trying to scare the monsters away

I used to love the night
The silence it brought
Now that silence has been filled by my thoughts
Every lost love, every hope, every mistake
I told the night all my secrets while I laid there awake

A mesmerizing piece...
thoughts of every lost love, every hope, every mistake
All those things and more that keep us awake.
Maybe we all should think of what may lay ahead
And I'll bet we start to sleep and dream when we go to bed.
Beautifully written piece as always.

a rhyming review, very nice :)) thanks Bill
A wonderful piece.

I suffer from insomnia and could easily relate to the thoughts and images you have created.

It is especially good as (I assume) English isn't your first language

No its not, wow thank you.. so happy it was relateable
So beautifully painful, how the elegance and wonder of night turned into haunting whispers of a world now sleeping. You make these bittersweet reflections seem so sadly real.

It is to some, thank you so much C froman :)
Sometimes, being lone's worth living, but not exactly. Liked the theory of your loneliness.. that's caused to your by love-arcs. Your thoughts/memories're profoundly pen'd up with your memories... in words.

My fav. lines:

"Thoughts of happiness, thoughts of dread
So I can´t fade into dreams in my own bed..."

Beautifully written & implied systematically the analogies of lonesomeness. Well written.
