What do we do now?

What do we do now?

A Poem by Johanna
"

Just watched the news about Israel, and wrote this poem.

"

What do we do now?

I shouldn't be talking to myself

but I grew desperate

Once the rockets fell

What do we do now?

Where do we draw the line

Between survival and war

Ice running down my spine

What do we do now?

When we hear the red alert call

Will we be able to know somehow

If we are not ourselves anymore

What do we do now?

When did we ever have a choice

What´s right, when I can´t allow

Fear to drown my son´s voice

What do we do now?

We can´t live like this

Day by day, breath after breath

Hoping that they´ll miss

What do we do now?

Does the world expect us to wait

For our people to be teared down

Nothing but blood comes from hate

What do we do now?

Another hit by the iron dome

How can we send them out there

But if we don´t, will we have a home?

What do we do now?

I break, trying to tell my son farewell

I shouldn't be talking to myself

But then the rockets fell

Author's Note

Johanna
I know this is a touchy subject to write about.. but I think we can agree on that war is a horrible thing, and it affects everyone involved.

This is what makes a writer, when you don't shy away from ''touchy subjects'' like this one.
Anyone with a somewhat clear conscious knows that war is product of evil men making decisions behind closed doors. But writing about the anguish it brings is another can of worms. You nailed those last lines, ''I shouldn't be talking to myself, But then the rockets fell''. I particularly liked these.

Thankyou so much Yann :) glad you liked it
What do we do now...a universal question, I'm sure. Sadly, war is a part of life. The innocent ones; the children, suffer the most. Human nature is impossible to understand.
Yes, this is a touchy subject, and you are brave to challenge it. Pray for those on both sides who keep asking the question, "What do we do now?"

I will pray, thankyou
You've done a very effective job of expressing the fear and desperation that far too many around the world have experienced. The whole planet seems a boiling pot of turbulence and chaos.
I believe this is an error--"For our people to be teared down". I think the word should be "torn".

You are correct and all that can be avoided if Arch Angels would do their job and push all the demons back to hell so that they dont try to get into persons heads on earth.

That means a lot to me. Thankyou
Touchy perhaps, but to keep silent is like burying one's head in the sand. War is all around us and it is always the innocent who suffer the most. How sad that the vast majority of mankind genuinely want an end to conflict, and yet still, after all this time, no end seems in sight.

Beccy.
