Just Driving

I´m a the cabbin on easter vacation.. and it´s a long drive, so I wrote this in the car.

Driving

I was just driving

Driving too fast

Past the limit

Almost crashed

A light of life flashed

You were in it

I was just driving

Driving past

Memories

Danger signs

Invisible

At the time

I was just driving

Hands tight

On the wheel

Red, yellow, green light

Trying not to feel

I was just driving

Through cold wind

The sun´s heat

Spilling everything

To the empty passenger seat

I was just driving

An endless road getting longer

Running out of fuel

It could all be over

I was just driving

Faster through the dark

Swaying the car

Almost colliding

Never drive with a broken heart

Never do anything with a broken heart! Life distorts when love goes travelling in all directions.. and methinks you've shown just how in this beautifully constructed poem. The brief lines are like breathing in gulps, the speed of the car, the erratic movements of your heartbeats. Plus, the repeated ' I was just driving' captures the awareness of how you're feeling.. yet, not stopping, even at the end.

wow this really speaks to the readers.
Its so deep and filled with emotion.
I like the last line, never drive with a broken heart, sums up the whole poem, and why shes driving the way she is.... and just what love and heartbreak can do to someone.

The last line i was thinking from the very beginning of the poem. Yes driving is extremely dangerous with a broken heart as you tend to least care about your safety. Enjoy the vacation and I wish you find someone who heals your heart and your driving licence should not be in danger again.
