I wrote this poem for my good friend Julie a while ago, and wanted to add it here so that It´d never be lost, to remember, and to share it with you. Dedicated to Julie´s father.

Everything is Diffrent Now

___________________________________________________

I look at your picture every night

Right before I turn off my light

I know I won´t ever forget your face

Even though time tries to hide the trace

The joy I felt when you walked through the door

I never feel that anymore

A few feet tall I´d run into your arms

Knowing you would protect me from all harm

You affect me in so many ways

You lifted me up when I wasn´t able

Helped me with homework on the kitchen table

Even though I liked to object

You always said that I was perfect

Everything is different now

I wanna cry, but I don´t know how

Life keeps going, and I guess that is okay

at least that´s what you would have wanted me to say

Dawn turns to daylight and daylight turns to dawn

But sometimes I wish It´d stop

Cause without you it still feels wrong

I keep going even when I wanna quit

I know your proud even though I can´t hear you say it

You´d come home early a day in may

You didn´t like to be away, from me

And we´d go out and see the world

I see it alone now, but I try to see it with your eyes

Tell the truth from the lies, how to rise when I fall

Like you taught me to when I was small

Everything is different now

I wanna cry, but I don´t know how

Life keeps going, and I guess that is okay

at least that´s what you would have wanted me to say

Dad, I know you love me

And I know you didn´t mean to go

The angels just came and took you away

You´ll always be my hero

Dad, I know you see me

Nothing can take away what we had

Time might change; I´ll change

I´m growing up on my own

But you´ll always love me

I´ll never be alone

How I feel no one will ever understand

No one understood me like you did and

When it feels like the sky is falling down on me

Empty home, your gone, yet still here

your just holding the sky over me from up there

This one brought few tears in my own eyes. I could remain with my Dad barely for 13 years in my life and after seeing the whole world I can say he was my only support, the only true well wisher, even long after he is gone. Your poems deeply echo inside the readers. Keep up the good work Johanna.

I know the pain of losing a Dad...nothing is ever the same, tearful write and visceral...it will soon be ten years since my Dad passed and each day is harder than the last but you do adapt, it never heals but you work around it, in many ways. A Dad is a friend as well as a parent and I truly understand the loss...beautifully rendered poem, lost me in some memories myself...thank you xo

PS Inspired me also...to write some of my own feelings out in relation to this heartfelt piece xo

With misty eyes, I write this review. How heart-breaking it is to lose someone so dear! Makes me so very sad :( The opening lines gave me goosebumps.. And then these lines:
"Dawn turns to daylight and daylight turns to dawn
But sometimes I wish It´d stop
Cause without you it still feels wrong
I keep going even when I wanna quit
I know your proud even though I can´t hear you say it"
These lines are so strong!! There is a very powerful message here.
Johanna, you have understood your friend's feeling so deeply! I am so overwhelmed. There is so much beauty in you and it reflects through your writings.

Love,
Anita
