On Paper

On Paper

A Poem by Johanna
"

"Be real, on paper, that´s where he chose to feel..."

"

He was a man

Whose heart had been broken

Too many times

When he felt something he ran

Picked up a pen

and wrote down his life in rhymes

Wrote down his story

Line by line

Stripped of all glory

He let pride resign

Be real, on paper

That´s where he chose to feel

He was a man

Who was tired of being judged

Every face he had to scan

For someone to trust

He was a man

Losing faith in mankind

Wanting to be understood

I wrote down his life wishing it would

Hinder his soul to unreel

On paper, that´s where he chose to feel

Only in words he would show he was harmed

Only on paper would he show he was scarred

On paper write down who you are

When the words were on paper he saw a chance to heal

On paper, that´s where he chose to feel

Awesome again! I just have one question: could you explain these lines please? :

"I wrote down his life wishing it would
Hinder his soul to unreel
On paper, that´s where he chose to feel"

Sorry for asking for the meaning but I don't seem to understand them. Thank you for sharing! :)

i really relate to this...i often have asked myself this question--
why does it seem that emotions tend to bypass me actually feeling them in real life so that they can go directly to the paper...

at times i seem to feel more in the poems than what i actually do in real life.

this poem is very real to me.
