He has to tryA Poem by Johanna"He walks along the pavement wishing he could have kept the innocence of childhood.."The first light The worlds greeting A little heart beating Smell of a mother’s perfume Innocent in the worlds gloom Safe in arms of love A treasure born in a white room
Little boy, only four His whole world on the first floor Swings and slide, watergun Learns to walk, learns to run Try to listen to what his father said Asleep while his mother tucks him into bed Wild and free in the leaves of fall A superhero, a few feet tall
Shouts of joy, first bruise Around a field in soccer shoes Got to be strong, got to be fast He stares at the girl next to him in class First love, first heartbreak In his bed he lies awake He only saw beauty in the world Did he make a mistake?
He walks along the pavement wishing he could Have kept the innocence of childhood When the worst pain was a bruise on a knee Protected by friends and family But his father couldn´t shield him forever Now he has to keep his life together Longing for the time that had been But once you´ve seen darkness and hatred It can´t be unseen
Lies like a tiger in the blazing sun Blood on his hands This time there is no water gun His hands are sweating Skin is tanned Fighting evil for his land Every man ready to attack As he runs he known he can´t win it back The earth of beauty he used to know The wind blows, a silent cry He can´t win it back But he has to try © 2013 JohannaFeatured ReviewReviews
