You couldn´t have saved me

You couldn´t have saved me

A Poem by Johanna
"

A man came and had a speech about drugabuse in our city and how drugs had affected his life, his stories really touched me. I got inspired and wrote this, hopefully fewer people will choose that path.

"

Don´t let me go
I said that, that night
Watched you walk away
Out of my line of sight
Now you think it´s strange that
I´m only sinking deeper
I am weaker
Than you thought I were

Watching me sink hurt too much you said
But is it any better to picture it in your head?
My arms hurt, drops of red
Escaping the future for a while
But I can´t escape what lays ahead

You didn´t save me, you didn´t save me
You didn´t save me, I´m not saved
Maybe I would have been
If I didn´t make the choices I made
So you shouldn´t blame it all on you
When you didn´t know what to do
The easiest thing is to leave, just leave
If you can, if you can, if that´s an opinion

It doesn’t matter whether or not I think it´s right
But I can´t leave myself, the walls are airtight
It is much harder to walk away from your own life
When you’re stuck, and you´ve had enough
Thought I´d gain more, not loose the little I had
Many things I wish I could change
But what´s the point of that
If I can´t

While I sit here waiting for whatever is to come
I´m not scared, all my fear disappeared
Somewhere along the way
Can´t remember the last time I was okay
I try to figure out one last escape but nothing comes to mind
Close my eyes, for the last time

I see you, I see you
I see you, I see you
As the darkness comes again
I know that this time it will stay
Turn to gray, turn to white
Turn to sunlight

Until it´s another Friday night
Without me
And the only traces left
Will be the memories that you have in your soul
Don’t let me go, don´t let me go
Don´t let me go, don´t let me go
back then you didn´t know
You couldn´t have saved me
You couldn´t have saved me
You couldn’t

Absolutely Beautiful! I loved your use of repetition, but even more so loved the raw emotion here. It made me want to give the narrator a big hug!
