Where they have been

Where they have been

A Poem by Johanna
"

A poem I wrote to express my sadness over what happened to the Jews during World War II.

"

Children crying

People dying

Screams for help all around

Innocents collapsing on the ground

People longing for some love

Prayers sent to heaven above

Hope so dim, hearts broken

Everywhere last words are spoken

Such pain our eyes have never seen

Fear of what is to come

Trying to hold on to what has been

High fences, no way to peace

So many killed for their beliefs

Hate as fog in the air

Faith replaced by fear

The world is slowly ripped apart

While the few survivors cry in the dark

Because of lives lost and no new start

Cause nothing can erase what they have seen

What they have been through

Where they have been

A tribute piece of a write...I've read a few about the subject matter here at the Cafe...and you illustrate another outlook into the events of the times during the war...

Well, being a "Jew" myself, I certainly appreciate the poem. But I'm sure there is a better term to refer to us as. Such as "someone of Jewish heritage" for example. Or descendants of Israel. And as for the use of the word "Jews" in the poem, it feels like you're talking about dominoes all tumbling over one another. It sounds rather cheap. We're not set apart from the world as "Jews"... we're like you - we're people. So if you could change the word to "innocents" or "people" then that'd be awesome.

It's nicely penned otherwise and it gets the message across.

As for some errors:

"So many killed for their believes" should be "So many killed for their beliefs"

"Hate as fog in the air" would make more sense as "Hate like fog in the air" or "Hate hangs like fog in the air"

"The world is slowly ripped a part" should be "The world is slowly ripped apart"

Overall, it's beautiful to see somebody so passionate about these people that suffered so much for the most ridiculous, inexcusable reasons. I love that there are people who acknowledge this tragedy without prejudice against the victims. I admire that greatly.

I love it. Good job.

I'm speechless this time but i loved this
The world is slowly ripped a part
While the few survivors cry in the dark, nicely penned, a deep write again came from your heart and yes, showed some discussion that should be done in real life with that issue.
again a great and an amazing job...i love your work.
