Splintimacy

Splintimacy

A Poem by Joff
"

Love is not what it once was. We treat our views on love as we treat our politics, our media, it has corrupted.

"
Maybe you'll get married, or maybe you will not
Thats all you've got to go off, so give it all you've got
And save up all you have, because you know its not a lot
Spend your life on layaway just waiting for your dearest
Since then you've been so scared of love, you now begin to fear it
What they'll say is tainted the sooner that you hear it
Thrown around with no regards
Beauty as seen in modern "art"
Viewed from far away with heart-shaped ball and chain
Strapped to your prison bars
-------
Love exists- "it's real!"- they say
Why then are we so far away?
Out of touch, frankly out of our minds
We've slowly been making our own "Blurred Lines"
The perfection that we seek to find
So now this disastrous oil spill
Is the apple of our eye
Instead of heart, palette and thinking
We're on a ship that is quickly sinking

It's shameful to be a product of this
Sacrificial lamb for a few moments of bliss
But the heart goes deeper, deeper, and yet deeper still
Digging your grave to the bottom of the bill
What constitutes living can and will
"Love" until it finally kills

About
I write sometimes to vent. Sometimes I speak them when I'm not scared. I care a lot about my faith and people I love, so in some way or another my writing always tries to focus on what matters to me. .. more..
