Surveying the Darkened landscape

Surveying the Darkened landscape

A Chapter by Joe_VILOT_
"

The prince looks out to sea. Wants to forego any painful memories of he feel he has lost........

"

The brooding prince surveyed the dark, lead grey, cloud laden sky. It seemed to forego

any sense of comfort when observed, from the craggy, splintered mountainside, on which

was situated the remnants of the once, great majestic and immense starv-gordian

fortifications. Which had been passed down through the extensive and exceedingly troublesome and backstabbing generations.

They had spanned as far back as the very mountainside. No heir managed to survive their own reign long, the prince troubled leaned into the howling frost-biting wind in an effort to forget or at least relinquish for a time what seemed to be his responsibility. The duty to make peace or to wage war if necessary. With one last surreptitiousness glance he turned around and faced the castle in all its ruined glorification. a sign to bygone times of the older generations when the land wasn't so developed and over populated

Just as the prince embroiled deeply in his own thoughts was about to return the way he had come to exit the castle. The living flame, called Sebastian saying “Sebastian it's time” Sebastian walked forward cautiously as if the stone ramparts which had been hewn from the very foundations of the mountainside on which he now stood would crumble at any moment beneath him and send him plummeting to his death. Yet it would not happen so soon, not now he knew, Fate was not so kind.

As he entered the back of the castle to which had been house, home and death-chamber to so many long forgotten (maybe hopefully never to be remembered). Untrustworthy and down-right malicious with intent; double crossing uncles, aunties, cousins and a myriad of other assorted unsavoury characters, in all shapes and guises. The reason that he felt such anxiety and surmounting danger closely. Was not the threat alone of him perishing on this mortal plane .It was also the signs he had seen which meant a different kind of threat was imminent not just to him but also to his kingdom and the people.....
