Test

Test

A Poem by Joey Martinez

Sips of forbidden pleasure to drown the emotions that haunt. Hiding behind designer clothes you love to flaunt. Foolishly unaware you lie naked with desperation and despair. But who are we to judge, forbidden fruits and debarred deserts are the meals of choice. We’ll do whatever we can to mute the voice of the angel on thy shoulders. Melting hearts with halos but igniting desires with horns. Smiles all around but we secretly mourn how torn we’ve become. There’s nowhere to hide, there’s nowhere to run. How us humans love to ignore the saviors and devote to the faint of heart is truly a work of art. Some break free of the illusion and bathe in the waters of those who come with open arms. But most of us still dance with the devil and her malicious charm. When will I break free? During life, after death? I’ve been giving many answers but still fail the test.
