Value

A Poem by Joey Martinez

She underestimates the power of her glance. A trance of emotions all put into a single glare, a spell within a single stare. It’s a sight to behold because even I became warm, a man with a cold chilling heart has succumbed to her work of art. However, I sense the doubt when she passes by. Wanted by many but she continues to create self inflicting lies. Pouring salt into the wounds that sting like a bee in summers June. I hear the needs of the men she attracts but she continues to retract. Waiting for the approval of the one she desires, wanting to be acknowledged and accepted. But there she goes, creating self inflicting scenarios that involve rejection. It’s painful isn’t it? To see a woman with such power fall victim to the demons of her own mind, a beauty many wish to obtain but she can’t accept her gift until the one she desires call her name. I can only observe for I am nothing but a passerby in her world, my words hold no value in her reality.
