Control

Control

A Poem by Joey Martinez

A rapturous feeling is displayed when you become the puppeteer and control the play
All these years of no control has finally begun to unfold
You’ve become dependent on others for amusement
You let them control your emotions, the mind, and your movements
But now you have caught the eye of a woman who resembles your past
You had the option to guide but you already had the strings latched
All the pain you endured, I would assume it would make you a far better man
But the pleasure of the puppeteer lies in your hands
Power, her fear of being alone gives you the power
The look in her eyes resembles the coward you once were
You live for each second on the clock, time is no longer a blur
I underestimated the evil of humanity once again
Empathy is nothing but a trend
Another enemy makes its way into a friend
