Hand of doom

Hand of doom

A Poem by Joey Martinez

She wallows in false fantasies, reality has taken its toll
I stand aside while her demons run wild, losing her self control
She comes near with her marijuana scented breeze
But nothing can keep a damaged mind like hers at ease

Dancing to the beat of her sporadically drug infused heart
She was whole when our eyes locked but now she’s falling apart
I was worried this will be the outcome of her joining my world
But I carry no guilt for I have made her into the girl I desired
Am I really at fault? I gave fair warnings not to play with my fire.

Death is drawing near, I can hear the swipes of the scythe
I’d happily grasp its hand of doom and consume our trails of life
I can’t let her go
I can no longer tear her down
The reaper came to play
And I’m ready for another round

I really become a heartless symbol
I really ruined a soul
I could have locked away her demons
But I sent them on patrol
