Mother Earth

Mother Earth

A Poem by Joey Martinez

Used to have a devil on my shoulder but ever since the world grew colder we became closer and smile for the camera shoulder to shoulder.
Angels said I’ve become bipolar but I’m just adapting to how the holy holder portays himself.
All these holy books on the shelf never explained how a God can be so deranged.
How can a earth made mostly of water be smothered with flames of hell? I guess the truth was too hard to tell.
Surrounded by a society that’s riddled with anxiety.
Being normal is a rare breed of variety that’s meeting extinction.
There’s no need for conviction, we experience the answer everyday.
This is a resort for the corpses that the devil uses to display.
A child who once believed in the power of prayer now grabs his records and plays some slayer.
Adapting... reacting.... fitting in with this world of sin.
