Bones

Bones

A Poem by Joey Martinez

You’re just a walking corpse, nothing gets under your skin
A heart was once within but the adrenaline of sin has corroded the core
No remorse, no regret
You’re dead but you still take breaths
Of course you remain the same as society and point the finger at the world for not taming your variety of demons
You believe the world owes you special treatment while you commit acts of treasons to yourself
But you’re nothing but bones so now there’s no need to worry about your health
Most of us experience the same pain but we chose to move forward while you complained in the same lane
Look at us passing by the skeleton who unimaginably cries without eyes
Not even family can recognize your appearance
You could have been apart of the royalties but you lie in the clearance section of misconception
I wish I can help but in today’s age time is running free and I refuse to be caged in with a woman who resembles the twin of despair
Perhaps one day you’ll care

I really acknowledge this poem. It makes me think many a teenager or young adult feel this way. Expressed, perfectly, raw, honest and deep but more so true.
