Outrun

Outrun

A Poem by Joey Martinez

Present intuitions can’t erase those mistakes of the past that spiral into a superstition of an unwanted fate
Scared of being placed in a residence you can’t escape once the reaper sets her date
The consequences of a hell has your mind under a spell of fear
Karma has made her presence clear and you try your best to steer away
A handful of good deeds will never decay those rotten choices
Your demons still sing over the voices of angels
Your heart still beats in subzero temperatures
You haven’t changed
You’re simply..... deranged
Good deeds masked with greed will never help you succeed
The wounds will continue to bleed
Tragic...
