Stop trying to be God

Stop trying to be God

A Poem by Joey Martinez

A world full of mortal men who try to be God and control the odds that are never in your favor
So do your best to savor those minuscule moments that were created by free will
Because someone will come into your life and supply the bill plus tax
An empty wallet to match an empty mind that can’t seem to find an uncontrolling soul who’s connection holds
You wanna be free but held under the folds of an angels wings who can lift you up from the chains of man
So many goals but you’re too lazy to plan
Wanting to be searched instead of searching
Praying for luck instead of going out and earning
Friends who hold the strongest of poker faces, hoping for your success but secretly desire for your luck to expire
Surrounded by Gods who want the odds to fall towards them
Is this truly earth or the devils den?
