Pass

Pass

A Poem by Joey Martinez

I took a stroll down town and as I took my lighter out to light a cigarette, I noticed the gas had ran out
So I came across a stranger who was smoking a cigarette and asked for a light
She offered me a lighter not only to light but to keep
Of course I denied her request be she insisted and I gladly accepted
The kindness of strangers really goes a long way and by my luck I came across a man who also needed a light
Not only did I give him the lighter that was passed on to me but also an extra cigarette
Such a small impact can really affect someone’s outlook on the world
Here I am a believer of how cruel the world can be but the passing of this lighter gave me a sense of hope
Why can’t others do the same?
Why can’t we pass the curtesy and help others along our journey to the destination?
Its not hard to help another human being but in today’s world it’s much easier to hurt another human being
Sad world
