Happy?

Happy?

A Poem by Joey Martinez

Sadness is always authentic, you can never portray a false frown
Happiness is full of lies and it’s seen all around
It’s hard to distinguish the real from the fake
Sadness leaves a trace, you feel the tension between the soul and the body
Sadness is a full time job while happiness is a hobby
However, true happiness leaves a mark like no other
It smothers
It hovers
It’s felt no matter the distance
But it can all be taken away in an instance
Life has us in this rat race for happiness and most get left behind
Have you ever met someone who truly made it across the finish line?
Have you ever experienced a soul who shined a light during the suns rest?
It’s possible indeed but I’ve been around the greeds of the clouds for far too long
Life keeps playing the same ol song and I grow tired of the repetitive noise
Its time to flip the record
Its time to weather the storm
A cold heart yearns to feel warm
