Clown

Clown

A Poem by Joey Martinez

It’s cooler to believe in Yeezus than a man called Jesus in today’s age.
Beliefs were once the rage but now society has become locked in this cage of judgment.
I guess you can blame the pungent aroma of racism that surrounds the towns.
Either fit in or stand out to those who oppose your views.
Freedom has become a state of mind you can no longer choose.
Leaders are no longer being born, we give birth to followers who are torn.
I have my own faith but I keep witnessing people escape their love for God because of the hate it brings.
A Muslim man is now a target to those who sing to the same God.
Religion was once a shield but now it’s a mirage.
So now those who believe start to become the decieved.
Lying about their faith to cover the pain on their face.
Not a trace of God is found.
A mask has become a necessity to join this town of clowns.
