A Poem by Joey Martinez

It's the battle of angels vs demons.
The solutions versus scheming.
I enjoy the silence but I love the screaming.
Will I avoid the fire or burn with my desires?
Will I come face to face with the truth or run with the liars?
Life has too many obstacles to avoid but I guess it doesn't help to fill the void with sinful decoys.
When will I learn that it's better to heal instead of burn.
I'm having too much fun.
The bulls of desire have me on the run.
But I come across a dead end.
No help in sight, I lost my friends.
Angel on my shoulder tries to carry the boulder of stress I create.
Offering me solutions to alter my fate.
A lot of hard work needs to be committed but the devil keeps telling me quick witted escapes.
I'm a sucker for the woman in the red dress.
I know my life's a mess but my sinful desires counteract the stress.
Angelic voices begin to fade.
Demons begin to rade.
A soul I once obtained becomes part of a trade.
Heavy metal takes over the gospel choir.
Holy water can't extinguish the fire that was conspired by the woman in the red dress.
My left shoulder loses its weight.
The devil now controls my fate.
