Price tag

Price tag

A Poem by Joey Martinez

You can't trust those who refuse to throw respect towards people who don't get the big checks.
Poking fun at those who worked hard but couldn't oppose the struggles they came across.
It's sad to live in a world where respect has a cost.
Humanity is declining.
The crowns of the wicked are shining.
The less fortunate are trying but it's hard to show up to work when you're apart of the joke and crying.
A price tag is attached to us all.
People want to know your worth before knowing you at all.
Maybe one day humanity will rip the tags.
The world is moving forward but the people make it lag.
