Reunion

Reunion

A Poem by Joey Martinez

Tragedy strikes.
Families that were once split apart come to unite.
Why does it take death to bring us together instead of life?
Why must a soul be taken away for families to come together?
Is it perhaps that death contains a hidden treasure?
Did the lost soul pull the lever to bring our families together?
I know having the faith of heaven keeps us at ease but it's family who gives us that peace of mind.
But why can't we come together before the bells chime?
Let's end this tradition of families uniting to watch a soul transition into the skies.
Come together for laughter and not for the cries.
