Money talks

Money talks

A Poem by Joey Martinez

Many individuals try to unwind ideas from the mind to help mankind but can't afford the time it takes.
In this world money talks and the silent continue to struggle to break bread.
If you don't have many dead presidents in the bank than those dreams aren't escaping the bed.
I know so many people who have propositions to alter the position of the planet.
But their voice will never be heard because the money tree wasn't planted in their ground.
Now those ideas for world peace and unity will never be found.
No matter how loud they shout, the money tree will never sprout.
It's sad to live in a age where a dollar bill portrays the level of respect that will be given.
It's sad to know that people can't enjoy life without the riches and the women.
Why must it cost a cent to hear ideas from those with common sense?
I noticed the poor tend to have the richest of souls.
But that's a not currency you can spend and fold in the pockets of the wicked.
God damn this world is so f*****g twisted.
