Young and successful

A Poem by Joey Martinez

This generation wants us to be successful at such a young age.
If you're not on your own by 25 then you're assumed to be a child trapped in their parents cage.
Time is a teammate for some while most are battling against the clock.
Some prefer the tocks to continue while others prefer it to stop.
It's time we focus on ourselves and not the other stories that people display on the shelves.
A college degree has no expiration date.
Whether it's obtained at 25 or 35 it's never to late.
Work at your own pace.
Don't take part in this race of success.
The finish line awaits your arrival.
Just understand that time is your greatest asset but also your rival.
