Shell

Shell

A Poem by Joey Martinez

Giving out a false perception of her reflection to attract attention towards her direction
Trying to be feared by her peers by wearing leather gear and bullying kids until they come to tears
Hiding the broken home damage she obtains so she takes out her rage on younger age kids who are too scared to open their lid
They remain quiet while she causes a riot
But little do they know she's the one who is soft as snow
She's a mentally broken girl who was born into this world by a mother who doesn't dare to smother her with hugs and kisses
Instead she chooses to do drugs and stack dishes for her daughter that barely listens
The rage of the cocaine abuse has her daughter leaning towards the noose because her suicidal thoughts are beginning to set loose
But she finds inner peace by gaining attention from the weak
Knowing she's the weakest of them all because once she falls she'll never learn to stand
No father or mother will be there to give her a helping hand
She's screaming for help
Yearning for someone to understand the pain that's being dealt
But she hides the pain so well
Why would anyone help this demon from hell?
Why would they believe the stories she would tell?
She's just a broken home girl with a false shell
