Rust

Rust

A Poem by Joey Martinez

Over the years I realized the people who cheer for your success are the ones waiting for the tears to hit your chest
Secretly jealous of your fortune, portraying to be a close friend just to taste a portion of your growth
Unable to loath the change it takes to reach their potential
So they make it their essential goal in their heart of coal to fool the ones with a heart of gold
The backstabbers and betrayers are far more worse than those who grow up to doubt and become naysayers
Because you build a connection with this so called friend who only wants to see the end of your happiness and will even pretend to lend a hand
But they're just waiting for those knees of yours to hit earth's precious land so they can climb over you and stand
Becareful who you trust
There's plenty hearts of gold but there's a ton of rust
