Someone

Someone

A Poem by Joey Martinez

Ironic how she loves to be alone but still looks at her phone hoping to hear the tone of a text displaying how she's missed so she can rest.
Her heart of stone is nothing but an act because she’s too scared to make the first move so she slides back to remain hidden.
Claiming she's a lone wolf amongst a town of hounds.
But in reality she's just waiting to be found.
Howling for a friend, not even a lover.
She wants that forever but keeps attracting those “anothers.”
She just wants a connection with someone besides her reflection.
She wants the movie nights and the dinner dates but the weight of the world is too heavy for her shoulders.
A gentle heart portrays to be a boulder of indestructible stone.
She casts a fake smile when she’s alone to avoid the drones of society.
Craving variety in a world of clones.
The lone wolf continues to howl for comfort so she can leave this act of wanting to be alone.
